Austin Burkes

Austin Burkes is excited to stay in the Lone Star State and to be the Weekend Meteorologist for CBS Austin.

Austin was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He became a weather geek at a young age due to a tornado that nearly hit his home.

After graduating from Western Kentucky University in 2019, Austin started his career at our sister station KTXS in Abilene, Texas. There he covered everything from tornadoes, the historic Feb. 2020 winter storm, and devastating wildfires.

If he is not at the station, you can catch him playing golf or taking his dog, Jaxson, on walks. He is also an avid storm chaser and nature photographer. If you ever catch him around town, don’t be afraid to say hi!
