Police say a man accused of stabbing and killing another man at a North Austin homeless camp earlier this week tried to dispose of the body by dismembering and burning it.

It happened Monday in the 1000 block of West Rundberg Lane, behind the YMCA near the North Lamar intersection.

The Austin Police Department says officers responded to the stabbing at around 3:20 a.m. When they arrived, the officers were directed by witnesses to a homeless camp, where they located and detained 41-yerar-old Joshua Daniel.

APD says the officers also found a man who died from several stab wounds just a few feet from Daniel.

Detectives believe Daniel stabbed the man several times and attempted to cover up the crime by burning and dismembering the unidentified victim.
