Police searching for third suspect in north Austin homicide

The Austin Police Department is searching for 36-year-old Steve Gregory Bryant, who they believe was involved in a fatal shooting in north Austin earlier this year.

It happened on March 18 in the 300 block of Deen Avenue, in a residential area near the North Lamar and Hwy 183 intersection. Officers responded to the scene and found 30-year-old Barry Dockery lying in the backyard with a gunshot wound.

Austin-Travis County EMS treated him at the scene, but he died a short time later.

Two women have already been arrested in connection to the homicide. Kendra Johnson, 33, and Brittney Curry, 32, are both charged with murder. Court documents previously acquired by CBS Austin said Curry shot Dockery after a cocaine transaction.

Bryant is described as 6’ tall and 205 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to submit a tip by calling 512-472-TIPS (8477) or by going online to austincrimestoppers.org.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
