HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) - Two bodies were pulled from two different bayous in southeast Houston on Tuesday.

One body was discovered along Sims Bayou, and the other was found about 10 miles away in Brays Bayou near MacGregor.

The bodies were discovered about half an hour apart, but police say at this point, they do not believe they are connected.

The first body was found by a person using the trail around 7 p.m. along Brays Bayou off MacGregor Way near Calhoun Road. They flagged down a nearby officer after spotting the body in the water.

The body, whose identity has not been revealed, is that of a man. Houston Police said the man's body didn't have any obvious signs of trauma and it didn't look like the person had been in the water for very long.

Then, at about 7:25 p.m., while police were still investigating the first body found, another body was found about 10 miles away near Sims Bayou off Findlay Street.

Police said people were in their backyard when they spotted a badly decomposed body in the bayou. Investigators said they haven't been able to determined if the body is that of a man or woman.

Police said in both cases, the medical examiner will work through a few different avenues to hopefully identify the victims.

"They'll look and try to match the description of the male we've got here with any missing persons reports. Hopefully, they'll have some identification on the body. We haven't checked that yet," Lt. Larry Crowson said. "The medical examiner will check that and of course, they'll always check their fingerprints when they get them over to the morgue. So hopefully, we will have more information in the next 24 to 48 hours."
