Cristian Avila-Solis, 20, is the third suspect wanted on a murder charge for shooting and killing a man in a South Austin LA Fitness parking lot last May.

On May 23, 2022, police found 36-year-old Jose Aguirre-Castellanos shot multiple times. Witnesses said they saw three suspects leave the scene.

“[911 callers said] a vehicle was driving erratically and two males exited the vehicle and abandoned the vehicle,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla.

Police say they saw two guns in the backseat and casings all over the car. One of the suspects was later found in a backyard treehouse. A second suspect – 19-year-old John Bagwell was arrested in Colorado last August.

Avila-Solis is the only remaining suspect still on the run.

“He may have fled to Mexico,” said Filla. “If he’s not in Mexico, he was in Mexico. But he also has numerous ties to Austin, Del Valle, and Bastrop.”

Avila-Solis is only 20 years old but this is not his first run-in with law enforcement.

“He has a juvenile background that we can’t disclose, but this isn’t the first time he’s had a run-in with the law. But as an adult, this is the first time and it’s the most severe crime you can commit – a homicide,” said Filla.

Cristian Avila-Solis was last known to live in the 14900 block of Jacobson Road in Del Valle. He is 5’9” and weighs 190 pounds.
